Can I eat out for work or pleasure?  Yes!  With endless options for fruits and veggies, animal protein options like chicken and turkey, almost all seafood and plant protein options like tofu and tempeh, plus the suggestion for healthy fats like olive and coconut oils, eating out for work or pleasure is easy to do.  You will need to remember to carry your vitamins and supplements with you and since you don’t have to take them at exact times, you take them as your schedule dictates.  Warm lemon water is part of the morning routine for the first 7 days but that is easy to find while traveling.

Do I have to eat differently from the rest of my family?  This is very much an individual situation.  If your family is currently heavily reliant on processed foods or fast foods, the 21 day program may be a big change for everyone.  If you family is used to eating freshly prepared foods, the transition into the 21 day program may not be noticeable.

Will I feel hungry? Definitely not!  The meal plan for the program is abundant.  You may find it hard to eat all the servings suggested.  Honor your body.  Because this program is whole, clean food focused, if you need an extra serving, it is okay.    The recommended quanities at each meal are very generous but pay attention to what your body is telling you.

Is snacking allowed? Two snacks a day are built in.  They will be things like a serving of fruit, veggies and in days 8-21 include a protein shake.

Is alcohol permitted? During the 21 days, you are encouraged to refrain from consuming alcohol.  The program is designed to help rid your body of built up toxins many things, including alcohol.  In order to achieve optimum results, skip the alcohol for this short period.

Will I lose weight?  Most people report losing weight.  The main goal of the cleanse is to flush toxins from the body and to reset your body’s baseline for optimum health.  In the process of eating cleaner, whole foods and using the natural supplements and vitamins, you will likely lose some weight.  How much really varies from person to person.  If you are currently at a weight you feel is ideal for you, you may not lose any or just a couple.  If you are person who is carrying some unweighted weight, you will likely lose 5-15 pounds.  Just remember the main focus of the 21 day program is to detox the body from months or years of stored waste, toxins and chemicals in order to feel better.

Do I have to eat specific foods or recipes?  There are no set recipes or meals you have to eat.  There are recommended amounts of fruits, veggies, protein and fat for your 3 meals and 2 snacks a day but what those foods are exactly is your choice.

Will I experience any side effects?  As with any change in your diet, you will likely experience some minor side effects.  If you are coming off a lot of caffeine and/or sugar, it is very possible that the first few days you may have a headache.  We can talk prior to beginning to help ease into the cleanse so that you may not experience any headache at all.  The cleanse process may leave you feeling a little fatigued the first few days but then you should begin to notice an increase in energy.  This is because your body is working hard to eliminate those toxins and waste from your body.  You will also notice an increase in waste, both urine and bowel movements but nothing that will keep you from your normal routine.  Your body is hard at work during these 21 days so you will likely feel different.  If something is uncomfortable or concerning, just reach out to me and we will resolve it together.

What happens at the end of the 21 days?  The end of the cleanse is going to leave you feeling restored and most clients just keep doing what they have been doing.  Should you decide you want to reintroduce some of the foods we have refrained from consuming, do so one at a time for a few days before introducing another food again.  For instance, if you want to reintroduce grains into your diet after the cleanse, do so for a few days before also reintroducing milk.  Give each “new” food a chance to assimilate again with your refreshed body.  Some clients find that after the cleanse foods they used to love, no longer really agree with them.  The best advice is to just practice moderation with introduction so you don’t send your body into overload causing dis-ease in your body.  Hopefully during the 21 days, new pathways will be formed with your mind – body connections and you can eat more intuitively and honor what your body truly needs and wants.

What if I can’t start on March 20?  You can start any day!  I will add your to our private Facebook group and you can follow along when you are ready to start.  I will support you through your completion.

Is it safe to do the cleanse with a pre-existing medical condition?  This should be addressed on a case by case basis.  If you are facing a major illness such as currently being in treatment for cancer, then this is probably not the best time to begin a major shift in diet.  I have worked with clients with Lupus, thyroid disease, eating disorders, heart disease, diabetes, adrenal failure, and more much very successfully.  It is important that if you have a major medical condition you let me know and we can address it in advance.  If you have a good relationship with your medical practitioner, consult with him or her.   I am happy to work with your doctor to help you reach your goals!

Is the cleanse vegetarian or vegan only? NO!  The cleanse is heavy on plant based whole foods but animal protein is an option.  Eggs, chicken turkey, fish and many shellfish options are included.  Canned tuna and other fish packed in water are included.  When choosing animal proteins, try to source them locally, naturally and as clean as possible.  Dairy and red meat are best avoided during the 21 days.

How much time is involved preparing meals?  This again is an individual situation.  Meal prep can be as simple or involved as you like for it to be.  I personally like making a couple of big meals each week that I can then eat off of throughout the week.  Many very busy clients have done the 21 day program and didn’t find the meal prep an issue at all.  If you are used to eating a lot of easy to prepare processed foods or grabbing fast food, meal prep may be a new commitment that you have to find a little time for.  Generally speaking though, the 21 day program shouldn’t have you in the kitchen longer than you are used to.  Because the list of food options are practically endless, you have a lot of flexibility with what and how you chose to prepare your food.
