Meet Laura

kids yogaThe Facts: Laura teaches Yoga at H2L Studio. She received her 200 RYT certification through Yoga Farm Ithaca as well as a Kunga Kids Yoga certification through Village Yoga in Duck, NC. She continues to grow with continuing education and is working toward a 500hr certification. Laura is registered with Yoga Alliance.

Her History: Laura was introduced to yoga in 2006 and has grown with it over the years. She fell deeper in love with her practice through Ashtanga yoga and in more recent years the variety of vinyasa flow classes. While she has always wanted to teach yoga, she became more aware of the need to introduce the many benefits to children while accompanying her daughter to kid yoga classes. She believes that children truly are our future and the benefits of yoga will help them to grow in a multitude of ways. Laura believes that yoga is so much more than asanas (poses) and is enthusiastic to share with children and adults as well.

What to Expect: In Laura’s kid classes you can expect fun, exercise and games while learning underlying messages such as compassion, courage and gratitude. Upbeat music that kids can relate to energizes the class and brings together the closing during final relaxation. Simple asanas and breath work are explored but the #1 rule for Kid Yoga is to be kind! While connecting the mind and body, her adult classes focus on using the flow of asanas and the breath to build strength, courage, flexibility and a grateful heart.

Favorite Quote: “Like the nubs and shoots about to break ground in the spring, something in our very fiber knows where the light is, even when we can’t see it”

The Facts: Lissa teaches Yoga at H2L Studio. She’s a certified 200-Hour Registered Yoga Teacher.

Her History: Her yoga practice started back in college as her required gym course. Lissa SchubertShe fell in love instantly and craved more. After finding a lot of classes unsatisfactory, she knew then she wanted to teach yoga and show that it wasn’t about what your body could do, but about what your mind could do as well. Over the last few years, yoga has evolved her both mentally and physically. Learning to unite breath with movement, slowing down, and connecting her to her true being is what yoga has taught her so far. She believes yoga is about creating space and awareness so that we can all open up and be a creative energy center for ourselves in all aspects of our lives.

What to expect in class: In Lissa’s Vinyasa yoga classes, you can expect a slow flow, but don’t let that fool you! You’ll strengthen, tone, balance, stretch, and flow all with some upbeat music, laughs, and overall welcoming energy.
