BARRE CLASSES

BOOK A CLASS NOW

We offer a few different options of Barre Classes, so you can pick the class that fits your experience to help you reach your goals. Using both the ballet barre and Pilates mats, these classes will help build lean muscle with fluid and isometric movements. If you have more questions about this type of toning class, call or email the studio.

Beginner Barre:

barre class for athletesGreat for students who want to get a sense of Barre and see if it’s right for them. This entry-level class has a slower pace with the same muscle-building burn that will keep you coming back for more. Check out our Events tab to look for upcoming Beginner Barre Workshops! We hold them once a month. But, please remember, you are welcome to jump into any regular Barre class even if it’s your first time. We teach to all levels, so the instructor will offer different ways for beginners to modify the class if they choose.

This class is offered monthly, at a variety of times. Please check out our events page or Facebook Event tab for the next upcoming class!

Barre:

Barre is a full-body workout that fuses elements of ballet, Pilates, strength training, and stretching. We use small, isometric repetitions that work your muscles to fatigue. The movements are low-impact and will tone and sculpt your body by building lean muscle. We offer beginner classes for those of you just getting a feel for the practice.

Barre Express:

The same Barre you read about above, except it’s only 30 minutes! We promise a full-body workout in that time. You’ll hit every major muscle group, get your heart rate up, and have some fun, in this shorter Barre Class.

Cardio Barre:

The same Barre class you’ve grown to love turned up a notch. We’ll get your heart rate up by increasing the tempo and repetitions. Cardio Barre is a full-body workout that incorporates your own body weight and Pilates props.

Hip-Hop Barre:

Hip Hop Barre combines classic barre muscle work with the energy of hip-hop beats, taking you through upper body, lower body, and core exercises that move with the music. Each month builds progressively to enhance strength and refine your practice—and while we try to keep playlists clean, hip-hop is hip-hop, so expect some real vibes!

I absolutely love Barre at H2L Studio because it’s a great way to add a total body workout to my busy weekly schedule. I really enjoy how simple the exercises are but by adding a few variations like raising your heels, you can feel the burn right away! So glad we have a studio like this in the Harrisburg area!

Barre FAQ — H2L Studio

Do I need ballet shoes for Barre?

Nope! You can wear socks or go barefoot. We do sell studio grip socks, which are great for stability and safety — but any socks will do.

I’ve never taken a Barre class. Can I handle it?

Yes, absolutely! Our Barre classes are beginner-friendly and offer plenty of modifications for all levels. Talk to your instructor before class so we can support you from the start. We do offer monthly Beginner Barre classes if you would rather start there. Check our Facebook Events for upcoming Beginner Classes.

The beauty of Barre is that you work at your own pace, with options offered throughout to make it more or less challenging.

How much does a Barre class cost?

Barre is included in our Group Fitness Class Packages:

  • First class is FREE
  • Single class: $15
  • 5-class pack: $60
  • 10-class pack: $110
  • Monthly Unlimited Membership: $105/month (includes Barre, Cycle, and more!)
  • Student rate: $10 per class

Class packs are valid for one full year. Our Monthly Unlimited plan auto-renews but can be canceled anytime by emailing us.

Check out Active & Fit Direct to see if you are eligible for discounted memberships with insurance. Sometimes as low as $70 a month!

Why do my legs shake during class? Is that normal?

Totally normal — and encouraged!
That shaking means your muscles are reaching fatigue, which is exactly what we want. Tiny, controlled movements work your muscles to the point of exhaustion to help build strength and long, lean definition.
Take breaks when you need to and focus on your breath — shaking means you’re doing it right!

Can I book a Private Barre Event?

Yes! We love hosting private events in our Barre studio.
Celebrate with:

  • Girls’ night out
  • Employee wellness events
  • Church or community groups
  • Bachelorette parties
  • Bridal party bonding time

Hanging at the Barre is one of the coolest fitness activities in the Harrisburg area — and we’ll help make it fun and memorable.
👉 Email us at info@h2lstudio.com to plan your event!

What should I bring to a Barre class?

  • Water bottle (We have a water cooler in case you forget.)
  • Comfortable workout clothes (You’ll be moving, stretching, and toning.)
  • No sneakers needed! Barre is done barefoot or in socks.

We provide everything else:

  • Pilates mats (thicker than yoga mats)
  • Weights, bands, and towels

You’re welcome to bring your own mat if you prefer — either Pilates or yoga mats are fine with us.
