The Benefits of Indoor Cycling

Have you had a chance to make it into one of our cycling classes yet? There’s so many benefits. They are designed to motivate and keep you coming back for more through uplifting instructors, mind-body connections, a little friendly competition, and MUSIC!

spinning mechanicsburgDecreased Stress–  As with any exercise, cycling can improve mood by increasing your Adrenalin and endorphins!  These boosted hormones will leave you feeling de-stressed and euphoric.  Let the lyrics and beats sweep you away!  You will become part of the ride, not just along for it.


Low Impact
–  Unlike running, the knees, hips and ankles receive significantly less stress in a pedaling motion.  This can be good for those recovering from injuries or with weak joints looking for intense but safe exercise.

Endurance–  All the muscles involved in cycling, the glutes, hamstrings, quads and calves, will be strengthened over time.  The added strength will allow you to get tired less frequently and perform other activities with more ease!

Cardio-  It is recommended by the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) to do 30 to 60 minutes of cardio 5 days a week to significantly decrease your risk of heart attack and stroke.  Not only does cycling build muscle but also is great cardio!

Calorie Burner- During a typical 45 minute cycling class you can burn as much, if not more calories than running.  A bout of cycling can burn anywhere from 400 to 600 calories!

For those who want a change in pace or to start a new workout regime cycling is a perfect option!  All of the classes at H2L, Yoga, Pilates, Barre, Barefoot, and Cycling, reflect on each other, and with progressions in one, you will find your performance in another to improve.  Let’s ride!
