If you haven’t already noticed by now…we are excited to announce that our amazing Pilates instructor Kara is expecting a baby boy in May!!! As expected Kara’s Pilates regime has kept her in great shape during her pregnancy. She has given us some insight as to what is like to work out with the additional weight of the baby.

Considering I was sick the first fours months of pregnancy and not to mention exhausted, working out became low priority on my “to do” list. Somehow I still managed to get myself out of bed for Saturday morning workouts. Barre and Mat Pilates became my preferred choice of exercise not only because they were low impact but because I could rest between movements and no one else would know I was struggling…haha! I found myself preferring to hide in the back of the room rather than up front and center. Even as a professional Pilates instructor and knowing what modifications I should have been doing I still pushed my boundaries. That was until I reached 23 weeks of pregnancy…all of a sudden everything became much harder to do. I was literally lifting 10 pounds more than I was use to. I was forced to do the recommended modifications and evens those were hard to complete. All the while in the back of my mind I knew I had to keep going because exercise wasn’t only good for me, but good for the baby and will hopefully help me through labor. I’m always up for a challenge so regardless of the struggle I will continue to workout through the remainder of my pregnancy, modification included!

God willing my plan is to teach up to my due date and I would love to see all of you before I start maternity leave. You can catch me in the studio Tuesday and Thursday evenings at 5pm teaching reformer classes or if you would like to schedule a private lesson please email the studio. Much love,
Kara
